GME, Alex Laughlin Head To The Land Of 1000 Lakes

Racing has its highs and it has its lows. Indianapolis didn't quite go the way Alex would have hoped but he looks to rebound this weekend at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. Held at Brainerd International Raceway in Brained, MN Alex hopes to make a splash in the "Land of 1000 Lakes." Alex in his own words... Indy Regional Update: I single handedly wasted a winning race today! I always roll in to Pre-Stage deep, that way it's very close to the Staging beams and I know exactly where the car is and can stage as shallow as possible. Anyway, I rolled in just a touch too deep and turned on both bulbs. Within a second, the other car staged and the tree flashed. I didn't have enough time to go through the usual 6-step process before the tree told us "GO"... 100% driver mistake and I fully take the blame on not taking home the win this weekend. We had a good and consistent racecar. Even though we lost, we had a great run and still went 266mph. I'm going to chalk this up and say that was the bad luck we just got out of the way so we can kill it in a few weeks at the US Nationals here in Indy. #winsomelosesome #bummerdude #gasmonkey #gasmonkeyenergy #advanceautoparts #speedsociety #protecttheharvest A post shared by Alex Laughlin (@alexlaughlin40) on Aug 13, 2017 at 6:00pm PDT

GME's Alex Laughlin Returns To Raceway In Indianapolis

Two-time Wally winner and proof a tiger can change its stripes on the track, Alex Laughlin, is back in action this weekend. However, not in his Pro Stock Camaro, which he won both Wallys, but rather his Top Alcohol Dragster. A few weeks removed from competition in either cars Alex, and us, are excited to again 'send it' this week at the Lucas Oil Raceway as part of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Time trials begin Thursday, August 9th with racing through the weekend in Indianapolis, IN.

GME's IMSA Car Seeks Victory Lane North Of The Border

The duo of Don Yount and Ryan Lewis (not of Macklemore) continue the Gas Monkey Garage IMSA season this weekend north of the border in Ontario Canada. Don is coming off an 11th place finish at Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen where he shared driving duties with Buddy Rice and Daniel Burkett. Though not with Don last week, Ryan is no stranger to the ORECA FLM09 car and a regular driver for BAR1 Motorsports which fields the car. Qualifying for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix takes place Saturday with the race Sunday, July, 9 being broadcast staring at noon on FS1.

Alex Laughlin Looks To Carry Pro Stock Momentum To Top Alcohol Dragster

Just a couple weeks removed from his .000 RT and Wally win in Bristol, TN, Gas Monkey Energy’s Alex Laughlin heads to Martin, Michigan. Only this time the chameleon of the dragway is leaving his Pro Stock Camaro at home and will be piloting his Top Alcohol Dragster. Another change going into the weekend is that the events at US131 Motorsports Park will fall under the American Drag Racing League rather than his usual NHRA event schedule. Despite the slight differences Alex looks to capitalize on his momentum as he enters race weekend. All the action begins Friday, June 30th with qualifying and carries over to Saturday, July 1st with elimination rounds. Best of Luck to Alex and the team!

BAR1 No. 20 Gas Monkey PC Battles Back at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Showing quick times all weekend, the No. 20 BAR1 Motorsports PC started Sunday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix from pit lane. During the morning warm-up, the crew discovered that the No. 20 Gas Monkey / Southwest Funding / Top 1 Oil machine had a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Though the crew was able to make the fix in time to make the 11AM start, IMSA issued the crew a double whammy penalty. Matt McMurry was required to start the race from pit lane after the full field had taken the green flag. A pit lane start is immediately followed with a mandatory drive through for starting from pit lane. Effectively, Matt started the race nearly a full lap down.  “It’s a pretty harsh penalty,” noted team owner, Brian Alder. “You’d think starting from the back of the field would serve the purpose. But, these were the cards we were dealt. It’s a shame really, because we had a good car. Matt and Johnny [Mowlem] did a great job and ran hard all day. Unfortunately, track temperatures started wreaking havoc with the tires. A lot of the teams were experiencing similar issues. For us, it put the set up off and we were chasing it the entire race. But, like I said, hats off to Johnny and Matt for keeping us in it.”
