Alex Laughlin’s racing career began at just nine when he got behind the wheel of his first go-kart. It was in karting that Alex would get a taste of victory and at 15 he would make the move to Legend Cars. Though the much larger cars can often prove to be a difficult transition for drivers, he was able to quickly become proficient in the Legend Cars, especially on road courses.
Despite showing a natural ability for road course racing, Alex was drawn to the dragstrip. “Racing has been my passion since I can remember, any kind of racing, too,” Alex told Motor Sport magazine. It was that passion that led him toward the NHRA, though he was going 200mph even before that.
A proven driver among numerous cars and classes, Alex now finds himself driving Pro Stock cars full time in the NHRA for Gas Monkey Energy. Though true to his upbringing, which found him in numerous types of cars, Alex also occasionally compete in his Top Alcohol dragster for GME, and still returns to his karting roots on his, “days off.”
